I started working on Saturdays with a friend, Anne, who is an artist and a lovely person! I was working on my art at the VISA school at their drop in Saturday Art Club, but as our fantastic facilitator Sarah is away in Iceland, I've worked with Anne for over a month now! She is really inspiring me, with the great feedback and attention to things in my artwork that I hadn't seen before. Mainly she noticed my little off-hand sketches of ideas for paintings, that I have gathered in my sketchbooks. She encouraged me to see them as complete artworks in and of themselves, which was a totally new way for me to see them! This was the springboard for my latest endeavor - the Abandoned Artwork Project. I followed her framework of making a postcard, and promptly cut up a Cheerios box in postcard shapes, bought myself my first paper crafting pad of various printed papers, and came to our Saturday ready to start! I am delighted with the results, using printed paper, printed images from the internet, collaged together with words and a light-hearted drawing along the lines of my off-hand mini sketches!! I may indeed use them for my Abandoned Artwork Project, which are gifts for whomever finds them, packaged up and ready to be received! Enjoy!!!
